About This Project
Vs DooM performed at Xenon during Copenhagen's Winter Jazz Festival in February 2023, with theater director Ira Nirsha creating a musical theater production about illness and unconventional healing.
I handled the visual component and recording different shots, then using Resolume to create live VJ visuals that mixed these recordings with generated content. Using Midjourney, I created AI imagery of the vocalist, animated these into motion graphics, and integrated them into the live visual performance.
The setup allowed me to blend real-time footage with pre-created animations, creating a visual narrative that complemented the band's fusion of afrobeat, psychedelic rock, and soul. The visuals enhanced the theatrical elements while supporting the band's activist message against monoculture and puritanism.
The three-night residency was recorded live and later released as the album 'Live at Xenon' on ILK Music. The combination of experimental music and live visual mixing created an immersive experience that captured both the energy of the performance and the collaborative spirit of the Copenhagen experimental scene.
